Water Tower Carnival making a splash on Saturday
If you’re staying in town this August long weekend, Humboldt’s Water Tower Carnival is bringing the fun to you—with a splash of lake-inspired excitement.
Set against the iconic backdrop of the Humboldt Water Tower, the event promises a full day of water-themed carnival games and activities for all ages. Highlights include a treasure hunt, a juggling workshop, and performances by a roving circus arts entertainer. Visitors can also check out fire trucks up close with a special visit from Humboldt Fire Department.
Open Farm Days and Golden Eden Produce team up to educate people about field to fork farms
Open Farm Days is an annual event, which launched last year, designed to share Saskatchewan agriculture stories by bringing people together through educational and experiential agricultural-based initiatives. The idea is to learn more about where your food comes from.
15U AAA Dodgers competing in Tier 2 Provincials in Regina
The 15U AAA East Central Dodgers are in the Queen City this weekend as they compete in the 15U AAA Tier 2 Provincial Championships.
Following a regular season record 12-20, the Dodgers will be one of five teams competing for the Tier 2 Championship.
On Friday afternoon, they open the tournament against the Swift Current 57’s at 1:00.

Roughriders enter season’s toughest territory

Dry weather aids haying, but rain needed for crops in Humboldt area
Dry conditions in the Humboldt region allowed producers to make significant progress with haying this week, while cooler temperatures provided some relief for flowering crops. However, with a stretch of heat looming, producers are hoping for rain soon to support crop yields, encourage hayland regrowth, and improve pastures for livestock.
Grim numbers emerge from Saskatchewan’s rural roads
A disturbing trend has been escalating on rural roads in the province.
Saskatchewan RCMP officers responded to 77 fatal collisions that resulted in 88 deaths last year.
Injuries resulting from collisions also increased as there were 271 collisions involving serious injuries in 2024, up 43 per cent from the previous year. These collisions resulted in 321 people seriously injured, up 48 per cent from the previous year.
