Portage la Prairie’s Community Mobilization program is making a real impact by helping individuals overcome barriers through a team-based, multidisciplinary approach.
Mari Kozar, executive director of the Portage la Prairie Community Revitalization Corporation, notes the program’s success during the 2024-2025 fiscal year, supporting 122 participants.
She says the program is designed to connect people with multiple agencies in the community to address their unique needs.

Canada does not require passengers flying domestically or to non-U.S. destinations to take off their shoes for screening, unless a security officer decides it's necessary.

Six Republican lawmakers have sent a letter to Canada's ambassador calling for action on the wildfires sending smoke billowing across the international border into their states.
In a Tuesday letter to Ambassador to the U.S. Kirsten Hillman, representatives Tom Tiffany, Brad Finstad, Tom Emmer, Michelle Fischbach, Glenn Grothman and Pete Stauber of Wisconsin and Minnesota said their constituents are coping with suffocating smoke from Canadian wildfires.
Vehicle flips in evening crash on Trans-Canada Highway east of Portage
Emergency crews are on the scene of an accident Wednesday evening on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Portage la Prairie.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the overpass east of the city.
A vehicle was spotted flipped on its side, with police and emergency responders attending to the scene.
There are no confirmed details regarding injuries or the cause of the crash, but traffic in the area may be affected as responders work to clear the scene.

Farmer Keaton Bachalo didn’t have the day off—but that didn’t stop him from enjoying the 2025 Farmer’s Appreciation Lunch with his family. Still in his work clothes, Bachalo made time to take a short break from his fieldwork to connect with fellow producers.

Collision at 25th and Saskatchewan Ave.
UPDATE: Miraculously, despite the severe appearance of the T-bone collision that took place yesterday, no injuries were reported, and neither of the drivers was sent to hospital.
At around 1:45 p.m. today, a white pickup truck collided with a silver SUV at the intersection of 25th St. and Saskatchewan Ave in Portage la Prairie.
Two police cruisers, one fire truck, and one ambulance were called to the scene.
