Collegiate 411 wraps up for the school year

This was Ethan's first year as a host for Collegiate 411 and he's done an awesome job.

"Thank you all for listening to Collegiate 411 this year, it has been a blast recording this for the Pembina Valley," he shared on the latest edition. 

We look forward to hopefully hearing him on the air-waves next school year!

 

Students are gearing up for a busy June on the final Collegiate 411 of the school year

Macie and Nelia have been your Collegiate 411 hosts for the entire school year and have done a fantastic job keeping us informed with all the fun activities in their hallways.

"It sure is a stressful time at school, but we are almost to the end of the year and we're pushing hard to get through. One thing I love about MCI is that we can exempt certain exams if we meet the standards." stated Nelia.

Macie continued, "yes, this encourages students to keep their grades up, and keep working hard throughout the year.

Carman Collegiate ballers win 3x3 Championships on Collegiate 411

May has been busy for the high school students in Carman, learning about bugs, soils and competing in (and winning) the A-AA 2024 Manitoba High School 3x3 Championships on April 26

Not only that, but the kids what you to come check out how artsy they are. May 30th is Art's Appreciation evening.

"Students will display their art, metals, woodworking, cooking, and graphic arts projects in the hallways and our band students will perform in the theatre." 

Miami High School students catch up with the grade 2s on Collegiate 411

Miami School is a smaller school they have the unique atmosphere of having every grade, kindergarten to grade 12, in one building. Since the most popular lesson in the whole school was the baby chicks the grade two class were hatching, Cohen caught up with Ms. Vanstone and a few students.

Milder weather means end of year sports and activities for NPC students on Collegiate 411

As usual, the athletes are busy at NPC. Badminton is wrapped up and it's full swing into baseball! 

But it's not just the athletes who are out and about, the art students once again have their art displayed at the local theatre, have you seen it?

The last two weeks proved to be successful for the students of W.C. Miller Collegiate.

One student placed second at the Skills Manitoba Competition, one of the boys doubles teams got first at a badminton tournament, a few placed in the top 5 at Zones, and the ball team had their home opener!

MCI shares how they create friendly competition between grades on Collegiate 411

Only about 2 more months of school? MCI thought, why not start up volleyball intramurals again!

"No matter if it's volleyball season or not you can always find MCI students on the court, whether we're playing for fun, for intramurals or for grade wars," shared Nelia.

Another way they encourage friendly competition is with Grade Wars. Hear about some of the activities the students partake in to win points for their grades.

Badminton, dances, and the eclipse the focus of Collegiate 411

Are you superstitious? Some people around the world were when it came to the solar eclipse last week. “Because of this rare phenomenon, some people have their superstitions about it,” said host Cohen.

He went around the school to ask staff and students about what superstitions they know, or follow.
