Year in review #8: Arrest made and charges laid after search warrant execution draws heavy police presence

Woman missing since Christmas Day

Local agencies are asking for help in locating a woman who was last seen at the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg on Christmas Day.

Aboriginal Alert and the Bear Clan Patrol say that Kiersten Allie Pronteau, 22, is 5' 5" tall with a slender build. She has long brown and red hair.

She was wearing white jeans and black Croc-looking booties when she was last seen.

Province takes step towards universal school meal program

Manitoba's premier says his government is taking a step towards ensuring one of his biggest campaign promises is in place by the new school year.

Premier Wab Kinew tells the Canadian Press in a year-end interview that the government is putting up $1.5 million to eliminate a waitlist at the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba for the remainder of the current school year. There are currently 51 schools waiting on funding from the non-profit organization which helps school meal and snack programs that ask for assistance.

Police asking for help in locating suspect after serious assault

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit continues to investigate the attempted murder of a 27-year-old female victim, which occurred over a significant period at a residence on Carlton Street on December 10.

Police had sent out a release searching for two of the suspects. Police now says that on December 26, 35-year-old Joey Michael Audy of Winnipeg turned himself in to police where he was placed under arrest on the strength of the warrant in his name for Attempt to Commit Murder, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats, Robbery, and Forcible Confinement.
