In a Friday night showdown between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Cleburne Railroaders, Cleburne’s early power swings led them to a 6-4 win over the Goldeyes at La Moderna Field.

Jonathan Tripp got the start for Cleburne (2-0) and he was knocked out of the game in the top of the first inning after Max Murphy lined one right back at Tripp. He left the game to Theo McDowell. Zac Reninger took the ball for Winnipeg in game two of the six-game set.

The scoring got started in the bottom of the first when a two-run home run hit by Thomas Dillard put the Railroaders ahead 2-0.

The Cleburne Railroaders defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-3 at La Moderna Field Thursday evening in the opening game of the American Association season.

Cleburne (1-0) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when shortstop Trent Giambrone singled to shallow left field to bring home second baseman Shed Long.

A 22-year-old male from Emerson has lost his life following a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in the RM of Emerson-Franklin.

Emerson RCMP responded to the single-vehicle collision just east of Emerson.

The investigation determined the vehicle was traveling on PR 200 when it struck a guardrail, went off the road, and caught fire.

The 22-year-old driver and lone occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.

Emerson RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service has a new member that will give investigators a "nose up" on suspicious fires in the city. 

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) is excited to welcome Accelerant Detection K-9, or Arson Dog, ‘Scooby’ to the Fire Investigations Branch. His job is to sniff out and alert his handler to the presence of accelerants used to ignite or spread a fire.

Motorists are being reminded to slow down on certain Winnipeg streets as summer bike routes return.

A speed limit reduction will be phased in over the next week on four Winnipeg streets as part of the Council-approved 2024 seasonal bike route program.

Signage reducing the speed limit is now up on the following streets:

2022 Spartan Dig Tournament All Star, 2023-24 Provincial Grad All Star, and Varsity Volleyball player at Linden Christian School, student Tomas Buhler is carving out his place in the athletic world.

Tomas has been playing volleyball since he was 12, attributing his success to raw family talent.

“A lot of people in my family have played,” he says. “My mom and my older sister played, so I’ve always been interested in the sport from a young age.”

In light of his success, though, Tomas has had to remind himself that he does it all for the Glory of God.

A 44-year-old man is facing a criminal charge after an alleged indecent act on Monday.

The Manitoba RCMP says that officers in Selkirk were called around 11:30 a.m. to a daycare on Morris Avenue.

It was reported a male exposed himself in front of children and staff and then left on foot. An employee immediately contacted police and provided a description.

RCMP attended and began making patrols in the area but did not locate the suspect.
