Round two of snowfall Thursday, with gusty winds and blowing snow expected from Colorado low

As Special Weather Statements continue across the southern half of the province, round two of snowfall will begin this morning from a Colorado low which continues to impact the region. After 5 to 10cms yesterday, an additional 10 to 15cms is possible Thursday through Friday morning.

It's beginning to look a lot like... more snow is on the way!

The storm system moving through the area is progressing much the way forecasters have expected so far. This morning, we're waking up to an average of about 5 cm of snow, with that amount slightly lower or higher more depending on where you call home. Amounts are higher as you head south of the Trans-Canada highway. It's the first round of wet snow across the region as a Colorado low moved through Southern Manitoba last night and overnight. Special Weather Statements remain in effect for our region, with significantly more snowfall on the way between now and Friday afternoon.

Slick start to day may be easier to deal with compared to the multi-day winter storm beginning tonight

T'was the day before a winter storm, and all through our homes, everyone was stirring to make sure their snowblower would go. Perhaps not the best adaptation of the Christmas story classic, but a good indication of what many across the region will be doing today ahead of a multi-day event still on track to bring substantial snowfall and difficult travel conditions.

On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me... a winter storm!?!

In Manitoba, it's pretty much always a white Christmas - it just depends on how white. For those dreaming of a little more of the white stuff after several days of near-melting temperatures, your wishes are likely to come true.

Although environment Canada hasn't issued any watches or warnings yet, that may change over the next 24 hours.

Near-zero visibility as fog advisory issued for much of southern Manitoba

Drivers are reporting very poor visibility due to thick fog throughout much of southern Manitoba Sunday morning, and Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory.

Visibility reportedly improves the further east you travel, with the Winnipeg region having good visibility for the most part.

From Environment Canada

Dense fog patches with near-zero visibility will continue into Sunday morning.
