Police looking for arson suspect in housefire which killed 3 dogs

Investigator's with the Major Crimes Unit are now investigating a fire in Winnipeg's North End last week as arson.

The Winnipeg Police Service says in a release that on February 29, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a residential fire in the 800 block of Redwood Avenue.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were already on scene and had combatted the fire. Nobody was at home at the time of the fire, however, three family dogs perished. Police notified Animal Services at that time.

Serious worker injury results in $50,000 fine for Weyburn business

Holdstock Livestock Ltd. pleaded guilty in Weyburn Provincial Court on February 13th to one violation of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020. 

The company was fined $35,714.29 with a surcharge of $14,285.71 for contravening clause 3-1 (a) of the regulations (being an employer at a place of employment, fail to provide and maintain plant, systems of work and working environments that ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of the employer's workers, resulting in the serious injury of a worker).

Police seeking help in finding stabbing suspect

Police in Winnipeg are asking for help in locating a suspect in a stabbing at the Osborne Transit Station on February 13.

Emergency personnel were called to the station around 8:45 p.m. and located a 26-year-old male victim at that time. Officers provided emergency medical care, including a chest seal, and the victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

The Regina Police say the execution of a search warrant last Friday led to one of their biggest-ever fentanyl seizures.

The Regina Police Service Drug Unit and Tactical Support Officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant in teh 1900 block of Saskatchewan drive. Two men and one woman were arrested. One of the men was carrying a loaded handgun at the time. 

The search led police to fentanyl, carfentanil, cocaine, methamphetamine, cash, and a loaded 9mm carbine rifle.

Two men wanted by Weyburn Police Service; one frequents Stoughton

The Weyburn Police Service turned to the public Wednesday for help finding two men with outstanding warrants for their arrests.

Darcy Anderson is a 5-foot-8, 205-pound 55-year-old, known to frequent Weyburn, Lang, and Stoughton.

Garrett Nimegeers is a 5-foot-10, 150-pound 33-year-old, whose last known location was Weyburn.

No further information was provided regarding the nature of the warrants.

EPS calls: 3x alcohol limit, illegal disabled parking

The Estevan Police Service detailed a few impaired-driving investigations and a crackdown on illegal parking in releases posted over the weekend.

Police reported stopping and arresting a 43-year-old man on Friday for impaired driving. He was over triple the legal limit. Police held him in custody and released him in the morning .
