There was a brief fanfare when #23 stepped on to ice for a home game against the Okotoks Bisons on Oct. 18.
Zach Wilkins was saluted for playing his 100th game as a Cochrane General.
Wilkins, 20, is in his final season with the Gens and came to the team from Calgary's northeast that has provided many talented players in recent years.
Information night on Glenbow Community Assoc. on Oct. 28
Residents of one of Cochrane's oldest neighbourhoods is laying the groundwork for a community association.
Just over 40 years old, Glenbow is close to the hub of Cochrane and includes many of Cochrane's valued features.
On Monday, Oct. 28 an information meeting is being held in the Creekside Room of the Cochrane Alliance Church starting at 7 p.m.
Winner takes home $$$ in launch of Legion's Chase the Ace
One lucky winner has taken home hundreds of dollars in the initial Chase the Ace Progressive 50/50 draw.
Held every Wednesday at 7 p.m., Veronika Kierzek took home $344 in the weekly prize. The Jack of Spades was revealed, and 51 cards remaining, meaning there remains plenty of opportunities to win hard cash.
The progressive jackpot started at $516 and will keep growing until won.
Trudeau says he will remain prime minister despite caucus revolt
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he has no intention of stepping down as the leader of the Liberal party by next week.
A letter signed by two dozen Liberal MPs asking Trudeau to step down was presented to the prime minister Wednesday at a tense caucus meeting in Ottawa.
The letter asked for him to let the caucus know by Oct. 28 what he decides to do.
Trudeau told MPs he would reflect on what was said, but when asked today if he would stay on as prime minister after that date he answered a definitive "yes."
Extras needed for major film/ television projects
An open casting call has kicked off for several projects shooting soon in the Calgary/Cochrane area.
“Local casting director looking for new faces for projects filming this Autumn & Winter,” reads a post on the Keep Alberta Rolling Facebook page.
The casting call is for all ages, genders and races.

A BIG book sale returns with thousands of deals
Donations for the semi-annual Friends of the Library book sale are now being accepted.
Taking place November 2 and 3 at the Cochrane Ranchehouse, the sale features thousands of books and all the money raised goes right back to the Cochrane Public Library to support their community programming.
Carmen Erison, the library’s Program and Engagement Manager, says the sale has been so successful over the past few years thanks to the community's support.
“The amount of books that we have at these sales is unreal, and that's because of the support of the community.”
WATCH: Residents rally around Councillor Marni Fedeyko
About 20 people rallied around town councillor Marni Fedeyko in the heart of the Historic Cochrane, Oct. 23, and expressed their displeasure with how she's being treated at town hall.
Former mayor Judy Stewart organized the rally and paper hand cutouts were given to people to hold when they spoke at the peaceful but meaningful gathering.
"I think it's a good show of support," said Stewart. "I think what we have to do is start standing up and telling council that this is inappropriate behaviors, and we want it to stop."
Alberta, Ottawa discuss funding for homelessness, more talks expected in coming days
The federal housing minister and the Alberta minister in charge of the file have spoken about funding to tackle encampments and homelessness.
The phone conversation comes after Housing Minister Sean Fraser said in a statement Tuesday that Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan hadn't formally responded to an offer of funding.
Officials say that during the call, Jason Nixon, Alberta's minister of seniors, community and social services, expressed his government's continued willingness to partner with Ottawa and to cost-match the additional federal funding.
Stockmen's fundraiser auction open for bidding
The dinner is sold out for the annual Stockmen's Dinner and Auction this week but there's still plenty of ways for you to take part and support the foundation that's been around for more than 40 years.
The event includes a delicious prime rib dinner courtesy of Cargill Meat Solutions but Scott Grattidge, executive director with the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation says they have extra meat on hand that they're auctioning off.
