Volunteers create website to inform residents of major developments
A volunteer-driven website called Improve Cochrane Development has been created by a Cochrane resident to increase awareness of proposed major developments and encourage public input.
Neil Egsgard, who lives in the Riversong neighbourhood, is among those actively advocating for improvements to proposed developments—particularly in that area—and has seen positive results.
He says volunteers knocking on doors discovered that few residents were aware of the proposed developments.
Skateboard season set to begin this week
The Zero Gravity Skate Park is set to reopen this week, as long as the weather plays nice.
The Town of Cochrane announced tomorrow (April 1) as the reopen date, but a heavy snowfall over the weekend could push it to later this week.
The park, set against the scenic Bow River valley, is a favourite spot for Cochrane's skate community.

Just how much snow fell on Cochrane over the weekend?
Cochrane and the surrounding region saw steady snowfall over the weekend, with totals ranging from 5 to 15 centimetres.
Meteorologist Stephen Berg with Environment and Climate Change Canada confirmed the accumulation, noting that similar amounts were recorded in Calgary and Bragg Creek.
"March is actually the snowiest month in Alberta, so it's not an uncommon feature," said Berg, emphasizing that this type of snowfall is typical for the season.

'Still very dire': Canadian Red Cross is fundraising following Myanmar earthquake
A representative for the Canadian Red Cross says the situation on the ground in Myanmar is "still very dire and tragic" days after a massive earthquake that has killed more than 1,700 people.
Canadian Red Cross operations lead Chiran Livera said teams of staff and volunteers made up of both international and local Red Cross workers were in Myanmar when the quake hit on Friday, and they have been able to distribute help, including water and shelter kits, from warehouses stationed around the country.
