Mayor finds confidential information leaks troubling
Mayor Jeff Genung says the leak of confidential information accused of originating from council incamera sessions is a very troubling matter.
But without more details, he's uncertain if the information leak came from those within the closed sessions.
The information has been used for a series of attacks upon Councillor Marni Fedeyko from an encrypted email account and has lead to her appealing to the public to share any emails they receive. She's also filed a formal complaint with the RCMP.

Residents stepped up in a big way for the south Cochrane food drive over the weekend.
Ten pumpkin bins were filled to the brim with food donations for the Cochrane Food Bank.

Two Cochrane educators pick up prestigious provincial award
Two local early childhood educators have been awarded an esteemed honour by the province.
The duo has been recognized for their hard work and dedication in the field of childcare, earning the 2024 Minister's Award of Excellence in Child Development.
Chasity Hauck and Jen Horne from Peak-A-Boo Childcare Association in Cochrane won in the team category for their commitment to educating over 20 children each day.
Hauck shared that being nominated was a surprise, but winning together was an incredible feeling.
Cochrane Search and Rescue holds 50/50 for new truck
Cochrane Search and Rescue is in the market for a new truck, which means it’s 50/50 time.
The $10,000 winner will be announced before Christmas.
President Kyle Blondeau says the money raised will go towards new uniforms, radios, and a new truck.
"Believe it or not some of the Alberta backroads have not been so kind to our vehicle. The Yukon has just over 450,000 km's on it."
Cochrane Legion warns of phone scam ahead of annual Poppy Campaign
The local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is warning Cochrane residents to not fall for a phone scam asking for money ahead of this year's Poppy Campaign.
The Cochrane Legion, Men of Vision, Branch 15 issued a statement on social media last week reminding residents that Legion members and volunteers do not ask for money over the phone.

Mayor says hand counting ballots a step back to dark ages
Mayor Jeff Genung shakes his head over the province's decision to stick by its guns to require municipal election ballots to be hand-counted.
A survey of Alberta's mid-sized cities indicates it will cost an average of $108,000 more to conduct the 2025 fall election, says Genung, who is chair of the Alberta Mid-Sized Cities Mayors' Caucus. In Cochrane, it's estimated to increase costs by $40,000.
Minimum wage to hire higher-paid temporary foreign workers set to increase
The federal government is expected to boost the minimum hourly wage that must be paid to temporary foreign workers in the high-wage stream as a way to encourage employers to hire more Canadian staff.
