Broncos begin busy weekend in Kindersley

After a weeklong break the Humboldt Broncos will be back on the ice tonight in Kindersley against the Klippers.   

Last Friday, the Broncos suffered their first loss of the season with a 6-2 loss to the Yorkton Terriers.  

Head Coach Brayden Klimosko said it was good for the team to have extended time at practice before returning to action. 

Broncos set to break the ice with training camp getting underway

It's another sign summer is ending as the Elgar Petersen Arena (EPA) will be busy this weekend with the Humboldt Broncos training camp. 

The Broncos will hit the ice on Friday, with a pair of practices, first at 2:00 pm, then at 3:15 pm, with the goalies workout at 4:30 pm. Day one will finish with a scrimmage at 8:30 pm.  

On Saturday, the first practice is at 11:00 am, then at 12:30 pm, and a scrimmage at 6:00 pm. 

Broncos trade CJHL rights for Tim Kim to Drayton Valley

On the eve of training camp, the Humboldt Broncos have made a move. Today they sent the CJHL rights forward Tim Kim to the Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL)

In return, the Broncos will receive a player development fee along with future considerations.

Kim last suited up with the Broncos during the 2022-23 season when he registered 45 points (13G-32A) in 48 games.

Last year, the 20-year-old spent time in the BCHL with Merrit along with stints in the United States in the NCDC (Idaho Falls & Provo) and the NAHL (Anchorage).

Jacob Leicht's memory will live on with new outdoor rink and courts

 

When he was growing up in Humboldt, there was a good chance you would have found Jacob Leicht at the outdoor rink near St. Dominic School playing hockey with his friends during the winter. 

Soon, everyone in the city will get to experience the same passion that Jacob enjoyed with a brand-new facility. 

Ex-Broncos Matthew Perkins invited to Vancouver Canucks development camp

A former member of the Humboldt Broncos is getting a look from a National Hockey League (NHL) team this week.  

Matthew Perkins received an invitation to participate in the Vancouver Canucks which began on Monday and will conclude on Thursday. 

Last season, Perkins spent his first season with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, the 20-year-old had 15 points (6G-9A) in 35 games.  

Broncos make a pair of draft day deals

The 2024 SJHL Draft was a part of a busy day for the Humboldt Broncos on Tuesday. Along with their draft picks, the Broncos made a couple trades.  

Following the selection of defenceman Tatum Fouquette during the first round, Humboldt acquired his brother, Tre Fouquette from the Nipawin Hawks. In return, the Broncos sent the 22nd pick in both the 2008 and 2009 portions of the 2024 draft, a 2025 1st round selections in both the 2009 and 2010 sections of the draft to Nipawin. 

Humboldt Broncos 2024 SJHL Draft recap

The Humboldt Broncos along with the other 11 teams in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey (SJHL) began restocking the prospect pool with the 2024 SJHL Draft on Tuesday. 

With the 10th overall selection in the 2009 born player portion of the draft, the Broncos selected Prince Albert Defenceman Tatum Fouquette.  

Last season with the U15 AA Prince Albert Pirates, Fouquette had 42 points (28G-14A) in 27 games.  

Broncos add an additional selection in the 2024 SJHL Draft


With the SJHL Draft coming up Tuesday, the Humboldt Broncos have added an extra draft pick.

They acquired the 21st overall selection of the 2009 portion of the draft on Monday from the Notre Dame Hounds in exchange for Future Considerations.

The SJHL Draft gets underway at 3:00, the Broncos currently own the 10th overall pick. 

Broncos acquire F Gabriel Filion from Estevan

The Humboldt Broncos made a trade on the weekend, picking up 2004-born forward Gabriel Filion from the Estevan Bruins in exchange for a player development fee.  

Filion collected 23 points (9G-14A) in 52 games last season. He was acquired by Estevan midway through the 2022-23 campaign and ended up with 19 points (11G-8A) in 30 games for the Bruins.
