Driver fails alcohol screening after crashing into guard rail on Highway 3
A man from Ontario was not injured in a single vehicle crash Wednesday evening in the R.M. of MacDonald.
RCMP Eastman Traffic Services was called to the scene on Highway 3 at Mandan Road, around 8:30 p.m. where a vehicle had struck a guard rail.
The 39-year-old driver was the only person in the vehicle.
RCMP say the driver failed the mandatory alcohol screening and received an immediate roadside suspension.
Power outage planned for part of Altona today
Some Hydro customers in the south end of Altona can expect to be without service for part of the day today.
In a notice posted to social media, the town says Manitoba Hydro has an outage planned from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

PV RCMP Sgt. calls out 'unacceptable' speeding incidents
A Sergeant with Pembina Valley RCMP says a pair of high-speed incidents on two of the area's busiest highways this past weekend were unacceptable.
The first happened shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday when officers on patrol spotted a vehicle heading north on Highway 3 near Jordan Corner at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was clocked doing 192 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

Three more measles exposure sites identified in the region
Four more measles exposure sites have been identified in Manitoba, and three of them are in the Pembina Valley.

VB’s Entertainment Center in Winkler on June 9 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Anyone at those spots at those times is asked to monitor symptoms until July 1.
Wrong turn at the Border gets driver a warning
On Sunday, Altona police were notified by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to be on the lookout for a vehicle that didn't stop as required at the port of entry in Gretna.
Vehicle description and license plate information in hand, officers found the vehicle heading north on Highway 30 and pulled it over.
After speaking with the driver, Police Chief Dan Defer says they learned he had made a wrong turn and accidentally entered the port area.
Altona police investigate stolen firearm
Altona police are investigating after someone in Plum Coulee had their firearm stolen on Sunday.
"It's still preliminary, but the vehicle was parked at a residence, the firearm had been left in the backseat of a pickup truck. It was covered and there was a trigger lock, but it had been left unattended in the back of the vehicle and the owner noticed it was gone when he returned," explained Police Chief Dan Defer.
Not only are police investigating the theft of the firearm, but also how it was stored.
Case of Bovine TB found in animal from the Pembina Valley
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has launched an investigation into a case of bovine tuberculosis in an animal originating from the Pembina Valley in Manitoba. It was slaughtered at a federally registered abattoir in Manitoba.
According to the CFIA, Bovine TB is a reportable disease in Canada and has been subject to a mandatory national eradication program since 1923. While all areas of Canada are considered to be officially free of bovine TB today, isolated cases in cattle may occur.
E-bike safety under the spotlight as Altona Police launch summer initiative
There's been a significant increase in e-bike traffic on local roads, and members of the Altona Police Service will be spending the summer months raising awareness of the laws regarding the vehicles.
According to Sergeant Shawn Tarnick, two areas where officers are seeing non-compliance is drivers meeting the minimum age requirement.
"We are seeing children, twelve/thirteen-year-olds, that are driving e-bikes, and we've actually seen it younger. So, that's a no-no," he commented, adding you have to be at least 14 years-old to legally operate an e-bike on the road.
Altona skatepark gets a colourful makeover thanks to local student artists
The Bridge skatepark in Altona has a fresh new look, thanks to a group of local high school art students.
Led by instructor Jill Ferris, the students from W.C. Miller Collegiate came up with some fun, bright artwork to help spruce up the features of the facility.
