Legal dispute between Broncos and supplier concluded
The legal dispute between the Humboldt Broncos Junior Hockey Association Inc and Spotlight Sport and Corporate Wear Ltd has concluded, according to a joint release by legal counsel for each of the two sides.
The release states that the Broncos and Spotlight are pleased to confirm that they have resolved their differences and have come to an amicable resolution in regard to the claims previously set out in KBG-SA-0072-2022.
Two people dead following a motorcycle collision on Highway 35
Two people are dead following a motorcycle collision that occurred last night on Highway 35 near Hendon.
Wadena RCMP were alerted of a collision at around 10:30 and responded along with local fire services and EMS.
Upon an investigation it was determined that a motorcycle collided with a cow on the road. The driver and passenger were
declared deceased by EMS at the scene.
They have been identified as a 45-year-old male from Spalding and a 51-year-old female from Archerwill. Their families have been notified.
Humboldt RCMP seeking construction equipment thieves and vehicle vandals
Humboldt RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying individual(s) responsible for stealing construction equipment in an incident in Middle Lake, and those responsible for vehicle damage in Bruno.
A release states that on July 25, 2024, the Humboldt RCMP received a complaint of theft from a rural land location just outside of Middle Lake, SK. The occurrence happened between July 20th at 9:30 PM and July 24.
235 tickets issued during Operation Safe Driver Week
Earlier this month, between July 7-13, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol completed Operation Driver Week, with 235 tickets issued for infractions including unregistered vehicles, seatbelts, failing to stop at a stop sign, suspension from driving, overweight commercial vehicles and cargo securement violations. There were also 12 roadside suspensions issued for drug and alcohol usage.
As part of the campaign, Sask Highway Patrol completed 238 inspections with commercial vehicles, with 43 percent passing inspections.
Humboldt road closure on 2nd Ave- July 29&30
Summer construction is well underway in Humboldt with a couple of road closures beginning today.
A section of 12th avenue between Stebbings Cres and the lane west of 21st Street is now closed off.
Work is expected to last between 2-3 weeks.
Also, the area of 2nd Ave between Main Street and 7th Street near St. Dominic School will be closed off to vehicle traffic for today and tomorrow.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada announces newly protected lands in Cypress Uplands
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) continues to make strides in safeguarding critical natural areas in the province. The delicate ecosystem in the Cypress Uplands, a region in southwestern Saskatchewan in the eastern portion of the Cypress Hills, has received a boost from the non-profit conservation group.
Two properties, amounting to 389 hectares in the RM of Arlington, have now fallen under conservation protection.
Volunteers needed at new SPCA on Monday, July 29
As progress continues at the new Humboldt SPCA facility on 104th Street just south of Humboldt, the SPCA staff and board are looking for volunteer help at a work bee coming up on Monday, July 29. The work starts at 8:30.
Representatives are asking for help with the installation of overhead doors and windows. Kennel doors are ready for installation, and help is needed with finishing the framed walls. Click flooring is also ready to be installed in the office.
Planned power outage for Jansen, Esk and area
SaskPower announces a planned power outage for the Jansen and Esk regions.
The outage is scheduled for Monday, July 29 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, affecting the communities of Jansen and Esk and the rural areas north and south of Jansen and Esk.

Wellness Warrior comes to Civic Park courtesy of the Museum
Kids have a way to stay active, learn about nutrition and challenge themselves while picking up on life-long healthy habits. “Wellness Warriors” takes place on Thursday, August 1 in Civic Park in Humboldt.
“Enjoy games, a scavenger hunt, an obstacle course and more,” says Cultural Services Director Jennifer Fitzpatrick.
The program runs from 10:00 – 11:30 am and is suitable for ages 8 to 13.
