City of Humboldt Snow Cleaning Route
With the sudden downfall of snow, the City of Humboldt crews are out addressing drifted areas to facilitate movement around the City.
“The night shift will begin tonight with a focus on downtown (including downtown sidewalks and downtown alleys), as well as all priority 1 and 2 locations not requiring windrowing. They will then be back tomorrow night to pick up all of the downtown windrows,” stated the City in a release.
The City of Humboldt asks residents on the 700 blocks of 9th Street and 7th Street to move their vehicles off the street.
Puck drop at Saturday's Bronco game supports Nipawin helipad project
A special group was in the house for the Humboldt Broncos’ Emergency Responders game. Members of the Nipawin First Responders were on hand for a 2nd period intermission puck drop raising funds for the Nipawin Hospital Heliport Project Fundraiser.
Presentation with Emergency Services Recognition and Dawg Nation creates special on-ice moment
It was a special night at the Humboldt Bronco game on Saturday, February 24 as the Broncos came together with the community to honour emergency services personnel at the Emergency Responders Appreciation Evening. Emergency personnel were given free admission and the evening held special surprises.
Bus cancellations for Humboldt
All busses for Humboldt running to the Catholic Schools are cancelled for the afternoon.
This includes rural busses and urban busses 1 and 2 running to St. Dominic and St. Augustine Schools.
Today is a scheduled non-instructional day for Horizon School Division Schools with no scheduled bus service for those students.
Broncos put La Ronge on ice
Another fast paced, end-to-end effort for the Humboldt Broncos on Saturday with a strong outing against the La Ronge Ice Wolves resulting in a 6-3 Bronco victory.
The Ice Wolves struck first at 4:33 in the first. The Broncos returned the favour with a goal at the midway point as the two teams scored alternating goals throughout the first. Ice Wolves’ Cole Thomas took advantage of a power play situation, but Travis Bryson got great positioning over Wolves’ goalie Eric Kahl to tie it up.
More teacher job action announced for Tuesday, February 27
One day after renewed job sanctions were announced by the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation, the organization representing the province’s teachers in their contract dispute announced further actions for Tuesday, February 27. Some of those actions will impact Humboldt and area schools. Withdrawal of noon hour supervision and extracurricular activities will affect Horizon Division schools, but not Catholic schools in Humboldt.
Teacher job action resumes on Monday; one-day no extra curriculars, one-day suspension of noon supervision in Humboldt Catholic schools
With teachers and students heading back to the classrooms after the February break, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has announced the next job action which will impact all Saskatchewan Schools on the day schools are back in session, Monday, February 26.
Medical sonography training now available in Saskatchewan
Traditionally, entering the field of medical sonography has meant that Saskatchewan trainees must cross provincial borders for their education. Now, Suncrest College in eastern Saskatchewan will be the first post-secondary institution in the province to offer an advanced diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The program will be offered at Suncrest’s Yorkton campus beginning this fall.

Canadian music lovers may be familiar with Lunch at Allen’s, Canadian supergroup comprised of legends Murray McLaughlin, Ian Thomas, Cindy Church and Marc Jordan. An audience in Humboldt saw its own version assembled on the stage at the Gathering Place on Saturday night. Brian Grest stewarded an awesome assemblage of local musical talent including Lady Friday (Jodie Hergott, Katie Nichol), members of 40 Oz Philosophy (Nathan Gregg, Brett Hyrnewich), and folk-rock mainstay Walter Bushman.
