Chainsaw Carving Festival packs them in once again at Manitou Beach

Once again, the Manitou Beach Chainsaw Carving Festival did not fail to impress with a host of talented woodworkers rough hewing logs and refining them into remarkable works of art. As well as large trunk-sized sculptures, the artists were again tasked with producing smaller “quick round” pieces that were no less impressive in their detail.

Why researchers are looking for 'fat bats' in conservation effort

Bats are a valuable part of the ecosystem as they are crucial aerial insectivores, and they even protect crops and gardens from pests. However, a fungal 'white nose syndrome' is devastating to a whole roost of bats during hibernation. This is why researchers at the University of Saskatchewan are working on the conservation of two endangered bat species, the little brown bats and the northern myotis bats.

$20,000 worth of farming chemicals stolen in RM of Pleasantdale, Melfort RCMP investigate

Melfort RCMP is investigating a report of a break-and-enter at a private property in the RM of Pleasantdale. 

RCMP says an investigation determined that an unknown individual broke into the property sometime between the late hours of 11:30 pm on June 12 and the early hours of 1:00 am on June 13, resulting in the theft of approximately $20,000 worth of farming chemicals.

Does this mean the end of access to local news for you?

6th Annual Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament Sells Out, Uniting Hearts and Honoring Legacy

The 6th Annual Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament was a completely sold-out event and was celebrated by everyone who participated. 

“We had a sold-out day, 160 golfers, and another 60 or so the day before. BV and Co-op hosted a tee-off party by having a band Friday night at the BV, and Co-op did a pancake breakfast Saturday morning to kick start the event,” stated Laurie Warford, a committee member for the Golf Tournament.
