BHP approves C$6.4 billion for stage two of the Jansen potash project
BHP today announced the approval of an investment of C$6.4 billion for Stage 2 of the Jansen potash project (Jansen Stage 2), doubling BHP’s investment in potash as the company builds one of the world’s largest potash mines, located approximately 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
This follows BHP’s approval of C$7.5 billion for stage one of the Jansen potash project (Jansen Stage 1) in August 2021, and a pre-Jansen Stage 1 investment of C$4.9 billion.

Horizon Division's Patrick Winand honoured with education inclusion awards
Horizon School Division teacher and administrator Patrick Winand brings a student-centred philosophy to his classrooms and the schools he’s worked in. It’s the platform for student success, and his attitude and efforts have garnered him a pair of major awards. Winand is the 2023 recipient of Inclusion Saskatchewan’s Teacher of the Year Award and the National Inclusive Education Award.

SIFF winners get encore run at Reel Attractions
Winners of the third annual Saskatchewan International Film Festival held in Humboldt have been announced, and as a part of the celebration, Reel Attractions in Humboldt will be screening the winners in a special encore presentation. The films will begin their run on Sunday, October 29 and wrap up on Wednesday, November 1.

Humboldt and area education supporters take to the street in mini-rally
Over 200 education supporters congregated outside Finance Minister Donna Harpauer’s constituency office in Humboldt on Saturday to rally for improved funding and resources for the province's schools. Teachers, parents, students and community members chanted, cheered and called on the government for greater attention to a school system they say has been neglected for over a decade.

Humboldt and District Museum receives SARC Community Builder Award
The Humboldt and District Museum received a SARC award on October 25, called The Community Builder Award, to celebrate all that the Museum does for the community.
“SARC is a provincial association of over 100 community-based organizations, dedicated to supporting people of all abilities to live life to their full potential. SARC Members are located throughout Saskatchewan and submit nomination forms to SARC each spring to honour the achievements of the people they support, the commitment local employers have to create an inclusive workforce, and the connection people and organizations have to building a better community,” stated SARC in a release.
