Gladys Anne Phyllis Demman (nee Owens)
On December 12, 2023, with her sons by her side, Gladys Demman passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years. Glady was born in Portage la Prairie, MB on May 6, 1939 to Bertha and Stan Owens and was raised in High Bluff, MB with her five brothers.
Once Glady finished school, she went on to complete the Registered Psychiatric Nurse program. Glady worked for many years at the Manitoba Developmental Centre and finished off her career working at the Provincial Building as a Social Worker for many clients living in the community and surrounding areas. She was also greatly involved with Kin Glen Home, ARC Industries, Sam Inc. and Sprucedale Industries.
Glady cherished her boys and they cherished her, she especially enjoyed watching and cheering them on at their hockey and baseball games. Family meant a lot to Glady, she loved spending time with her granddaughters, extended family and friends. Glady also enjoyed being outside tending to her flowers, was famous for putting on Big Holiday meals and was a dedicated curling fan.
Glady is predeceased by her parents Stan and Bertha Owens, brothers Wayne, Brian and Terry Owens, and sisters-in-law Jolene, Charlotte and Steph. She was also predeceased by her beloved dog Timmy.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Michael and Dennis (Patti) Demman, granddaughter Ashlee (Tyler) Bruno and great-grandson Jaxen Bruno, granddaughter Samantha (Cody) Brown, granddaughter Jessica Demman (Shawn), brothers Hughie (Marg) and Larry (Gloria), sister-in-law Lesley and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their thanks to all the staff at Douglas Campbell Lodge for the care they provided to her this past year.
A private family interment will take place at a later date.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
