Following the discovery of an outsider in the ceiling of Portage Collegiate Institute (PCI) last Monday, Portage la Prairie RCMP is sharing details of what went down.
Police say it was at 8:55 a.m. on December 11, when they received a call from PCI's Principal reporting that a break-and-enter had occurred at the school overnight. Officers were then advised that the suspect may be still inside the school as movement could be heard in the ceiling of the building. With the help of the division's custodians, a roof tile was taken down, and a ladder was used to remove the suspect from the ceiling.
The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Kelly Levasseur. He was arrested for break and enter.
Levasseur was remanded into custody and appeared before a judge on Friday.
