A home invasion occurred on Christmas Eve, December 24th, at about 1:05 a.m. in Thompson, MB.

Thompson RCMP were called to a residence on Elm Street.

Upon arrival, they entered the home and found obvious signs of a struggle and blood throughout but no residents. Shortly afterward, they found a 35-year-old man who was returning to the home. The man was walking and suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers provided first-aid and he was immediately taken to hospital by paramedics in critical condition with serious injuries.

The investigation determined that the man was at the residence along with the homeowner who was a woman, with six children, when a group of men forced their way inside. He was assaulted and stabbed as he attempted to get the children to another room for safety. Following the attack, he walked the children to a nearby residence before returning to the Elm Street home where he met officers.

Police are looking for approximately four or five men, possibly youths or young adults, who were fully dressed in dark clothing, and wearing masks. It is believed they were driving a black pickup truck.

At this time, police believe that the house was specifically targeted.
