JAMES CHARLES FROEHLICH
With sadness, the family of James (Jim) Charles Froehlich announces his passing on Monday, January 22nd, 2024 at the age of 93 years, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Jim was born in Tuxford, SK on March 26th, 1930, and lived most of his life near Marquis, SK on the family farm and home his parents built. The youngest son, and second youngest child of Bernard Froehlich and Bertha Thul, Jim was born into a family of 10 siblings and grandmother, Julia Froehlich (née: Dobberstein), who shared the large farmhouse along with sleeping quarters in granaries and other farm buildings during summer months. It was a home that welcomed and housed many cousins and other relatives.
Jim farmed his whole career and never let his grade eight education hold him back from becoming a superb mechanic and inventor who helped farmers far and wide. His kids proudly told anyone who would listen that their dad could fix anything, and he could. His proudest accomplishment might have been becoming a pilot and proud owner of a Piper Cherokee plane. He loved hunting, fishing, and curling. He kept the same childhood friends his whole life and added new ones along the way.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Jonah Froehlich; son-in-law, Norm Kerr; parents, Ben and Bertha; siblings: Frank (Marge), Tom (Lucille), Ed (June), Ben (Flora), Rita (Leo) Fitzpatrick, Dot (Bill) Sagal, John (Carol), and Theresa; and brother-in-law, Jim O’Byrne. Jim is survived by his wife, Inez; children: Terri (Russ), Janet (Mike), Yvonne, Sandra (Dan), Brenda (Mike), Lloyd (Debbie), and Gail (Jim); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Anderson (Lynn) and Leone O’Byrne.
Since 2001, Jim resided in Moose Jaw, SK at Providence Place, where he was well cared for by the wonderful staff of Guardian Grove.
