Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA charged with assault, choking

Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA Greg Lawrence has been charged with assault.

The Moose Jaw Police Service began investigating complaints of an assault during an interaction between two people on June 27, 2023.

Lawrence, 58, was charged on Wednesday with assault and assault by choking. His first court appearance will be March 18 at Moose Jaw Provincial Court.

The Moose Jaw Police Service says no further information will be released as these matters are now before the courts.

Lawrence resigned from the Saskatchewan Party Caucus on Tuesday and his sitting in the legislature as an independent. He has already indicated that he will not be seeking re-election.
