The Portage Terriers' annual Louis Riel Day game is today, and the team has lined up several events to get fans ready.

Cody Buhler, the Terriers Marketing Director, shares what they have planned.

"Bring your skates to the rink, we're going to have our Tim Horton's Skate with the Terriers. So, right after the game is over, go downstairs, we'll have a couple dressing rooms set aside for you, put on your skates and then come on out. We're going to have half the team out on the ice, the other half is going to be in the lobby. We'll have Timbits, hot chocolate, and then we're going to release our brand new Canadian Tire hockey cards."

Buhler also notes the Manitoba Metis Federation has a special presentation planned for the game as well, giving sashes to the Terriers Metis players.

Also kicking off at the game, Buhler adds, is the Gigantic 50/50, which is giving away a minimum prize of $25,000.

Add to all that, of course, the Niverville Nighthawks have a new head coach, getting his first shot at the MJHL level, and there will be plenty to entertain fans for the matinee matchup.

Niverville has struggled of late, but hope that a change behind the bench might spur them on, and help them hold a playoff spot.

Portage has won only two of the teams' five contests this season, and is looking to even up the season series with a victory in today's game.

Puck drop is 4 p.m. at Stride Place.
