Nathon Kettyle-Kozuback, 15, will represent the Red Deer Lions Speed Skating Club as a flag bearer for Zone 4 at the Alberta Winter Games this weekend in Grande Prairie.
Kettyle-Kozuback has been speed skating with the club since 2014, and will be competing in the 500m, 1000m, 1500m and team relay short-track events.
The talented young skater competes in both long and short track disciplines. Cross-over skaters are rare, since it requires separate facilities.
At the Feb. 3 and Feb. 4 Neo Jr. Canadian Long Track Championships in Fort St. John, B.C., Kettyle-Kozuback placed 4th out of 27 in three events; 500m, 1000m and 10-lap mass start. He also finished 8th in the 3000m race.
