This past weekend, the southwest honoured the lives of a trio of brothers who tragically passed a decade ago in farming accidents.

The Arnal Boys Memorial Bursary for Young Farmers held its eighth annual hockey tournament with eight adult teams and three children's teams.

Chantal Henderson is a sister of the Arnal brothers and the eldest of her surviving siblings. She and her younger sister, Olivia, help plan this heartwarming fundraiser every year.

"One of the highlights of the weekend for me was the final game for the adults," recounts Henderson. "There was actually a whole team of my brother Sean's friends versus a whole team of my brother Lyndon's friends. It was nice to be able to see that take place."

The hockey tournament raised nearly $32,000, $25,000 of which came from the live auction. Those funds will go towards bursaries for students between the ages of eight and 18 who are interested in a career or education in agriculture and are within the Chinook School Division.

Since the family first began the Arnal Memorial Bursary, they have granted over $300,000 to over 85 students to follow their passions in the agriculture industry.

The Arnal's and family would like to thank the sponsors for the tournament, the businesses that sponsored the jerseys and player giveaways, the auction item donors, all bidders and buyers, and everyone who came out to show their support.

"It was just fun to have a weekend we could spend with so many friends and family". Henderson said.
