SWAYZE
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of our father Cpl. (Retd) Wayne Garry Swayze in the early hours of Thursday, February 22nd, 2024. He was predeceased by his father, Clarence; sister, Wanda; mother, Peggy; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Moffatt. Wayne leaves behind to cherish the indelible mark he left on their lives, his sons, Lucas and Clayton (Kelda) Swayze; brother, Clark Swayze; grandchildren: Mylène (Kyle), McKenzie (Mathew), and Misha; several nieces and nephews; as well as numerous friends and acquaintances, including his Bombardier/C.A.E. family.
Wayne was born January 20th, 1947, in Mowbary, MB. He spent most of his school years in Reston, MB until he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in the 60’s. Wanting to be a pilot but unable to get his wings, Wayne served as an Aero Engine Technician. His first posting was Bagotville, QC where he worked on Voodos and met his wife, Micheline Auclair. Wayne was a proud member of the 1975/76 Snowbirds Ground Crew Team Plane 6. On the Snowbird’s 50th Anniversary, Wayne was declared an Official Inception Years Alumni. He also spent time on the flight line with Bombardier for 11 years until is health forced him to retire.
Wayne enjoyed flying – especially the Snowbirds, going for coffee, telling jokes and trivia, cars, and animals. His dog Sassy was wonderful companion for him.
The family would like to thank Dr Janzen and the Moose Jaw Special Care Home staff for their care for Wayne.
Though Dad lost his legs, he now has his wings.
