Dazza Mitchell made 33 saves for his third shutout of the season as the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings skated to a 4-0 win over the Estevan Bruins Friday night to kick off the final weekend of the SJHL's regular season. The win would also secure 6th place overall for the Red Wings, meaning they will face either the Humboldt Broncos or Battlefords North Stars in the first round of the playoffs.

The Red Wings would jump to an early lead, with Sam Callahan scoring his second goal as a Red Wing at the 5:06 mark of the opening frame. Blake Betson and Carter Briltz had the assists on the goal. Then, 2:40 later, Nicholas Kovacs scored his sixth of the season with a blistering one-timer from the top of the circle to the left of Bruins netminder Jackson Miller. Tyler Teasdale and Braigh LeGrandeur assisted the goal.

LeGrandeur would get in on the goal-scoring early in the second when he notched his tenth of the season 3:10 into the middle period. Jacob Visentini assisted on the goal.

The scoring would be rounded out in the third period when Max Monette scored his 23rd of the campaign on an empty net with 4:32 remaining in the game. Matthew Hodson and Jerome Maharaj had the assists on the goal.

Weyburn will look to close out the regular season with another win on Saturday night. They host the Bruins at Crescent Point Place in the return leg of the home-and-home series. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
