Lois Diane Howes of Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed away April 1, 2024 at the age of 71 years at the Meadows in Swift Current. There is no service at Lois’ request.
Lois was born on October 8, 1952 to Lyle and Mary (Garrett) Cates, in Kyle, Saskatchewan. Lois attended White Bear and Kyle schools throughout her school age years. In 1979, Lois married the love of her life, Leonard Howes. They were married in the Kyle Unites Church in Kyle, Saskatchewan.
Lois loved horses and she was a member of many organizations, amongst them were Skyline Riders, Topline Trail riders, Southwest Naturalists, Image West Photography, and Swift Current Horticulture Society. Lois hobbies were horseback riding, discovering nature, gardening, sewing, reading and photography.
Lois was a determined person who lived with crohne’s disease from age 20 and cancer from age 40. She managed to raise her son, work on the farm, and ride with Skyline riders drill team, and participated in many trail rides. She visited South Africa, Dominican Republic, and Mexico 5 times. Lois loved life, nature and most of all, friends. Lois lived with pain but tried to cover it up till she got home where we would work it out. She loved and was loved by her family and many friends.
Lois was survived by her husband Leonard, son Witt (Jackie) grandson Wyler, granddaughter Cecilia, brother Glen (Sylvia) children; Jay and Bill, brother Oran, children; Colby and Caitlin.
Lois was predeceased by her parents Lyle and Mary Cates, Grandparents James and Helen (Paton) Garrett and Grandparents William and Catherine Cates.
