It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ramona Evelyn Yaschuk, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 13th, 2024.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bill; parents, Alphonse and Beatrice Schneider; brothers, Ron and Doug; and brother-in-law, Laverne Leer. 

Mona was born in St. Walberg, SK on June 12th, 1937.  She was the eldest of 8 siblings.  After high school, Mona obtained her business certificate in Regina, SK, where she met her husband, Bill.  They were married on May 30th, 1959, and went on to have 4 children.  Mona went on to have a long and successful career with the Credit Union and Valley View Center, retiring at the age of 65 years.

Mona was full of life, she loved and welcomed everyone.  She was highly active in the community.  She sold tickets for the Canucks and Generals for years and volunteered with the Special Olympics.  She enjoyed acting with the Moose Jaw Community Players and was also involved with the Dusty Feathers.

Mona loved to attend and participate in many sports.  She curled, bowled, and played Slow-pitch.  She also was a huge fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Blue Jays.  Mona also had many interests such as ceramics, picking berries, playing cards for hours, baking, and loved to cook.  She was known for her delicious meals and baking.  She spent countless hours preparing meals for family and friends, it truly was her love language.  She had a heart for serving.

Mona will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Cyl (Caroline), Al (Eileen), Lorretta, Karen, and Debbie (Doug) Sinclair; sisters-in-law, Olive and Lorraine; daughter: Cheryl (Rob) Walchuk and their children Jillian (Tylan) Fraser, Jada (Steven) Gilbertson, and Mitchell (Meghan); son, Darryl (Mary Anne) and their children Kayla (RJ) Weibe, Amanda (Shawn) Schulmeister, Danielle (Justin) Qually, and Nick (Rachelle); son, Dale (Carie) and their children Ciara (Brock) and Kade (Katie); daughter, Shelly (Laurie) Evans and their children Brodie (Morgan), Zach (Jayme), and Talissa (Ging) McLean; as well as her 15 great-grandchildren. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark Brown, the Points West staff, Craik Care Home staff, and last but not least, the Pioneer Lodge staff for their exceptional care.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Parish, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK.  A private family interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery.
