The 2021 federal election is just under a month away and Kenora riding candidates are in full swing with their campaigns.

KenoraOnline had the chance to speak with Kenora NDP candidate Janine Seymour about the key issues in the region she is fighting for.

“I believe the NDP has the strongest platform aligned with the issues in the area. The national and universal healthcare, which extends to mental health. I think that is a priority especially for this region with the highest number of residential schools per capita,” said Seymour

“Second of all, affordability and accessibility, housing, housing, housing that’s what I hear and accessibility in terms of ensuring transportation to and from employment. The third one is environmental sustainability, I think that is a very important issue for the riding,” added Seymour

If elected, Seymour wants to bring her powerful voice and her continuance of advocacy to the people of the region.

“I really want to make sure that people are heard, people are listened to and they have a space to do so. I will be making sure a priority is getting to meet and reach everybody that would like to speak with me,” noted Seymour
