The Weyburn Beavers were in Swift Current last night to finish a game that took 18 days and four hours to complete, and then turned around and played another seven-inning game right afterward.

The reason for the long game, of course, was the postponement of the game on May 26th due to weather. The game was suspended in the third inning, with Weyburn up 8-3. The game was to be finished as part of a doubleheader on June 4th, but that game too was delayed due to rain. The two teams had an off-day on the schedule for last night, so both games were played then.

The Beavers would finish the first game with a 10-8 win, as Jordan Bauer was credited with the win. After getting the initial start, the postponement worked that it was his turn in the rotation on the rescheduled day, so he would pick things up where he left off. In all, he pitched six innings, striking out four and allowing six earned runs on seven hits.

Ethan Webster pitched two innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit. Tanner Coddington then came in for the save, and he allowed one run as well.

At the plate, Ryan Dauphinee hit his first home run of the season in the game to help extend the Weyburn lead. Dallas Cummins had two RBI, as did Jacob Carlson. Ryan Muizelaar, Quentin Smith and Easton Mould also finished the game with an RBI.

The second game of the night was shortened – just seven innings long.

Swift Current would come out hot, putting up four runs in the first and four more in the third, and would hold on while adding to the lead. By the time of the final out, the 57s had a 15-4 win.

Joe Hart was tagged with the loss, as he gave up eight runs, six earned, in three innings. Logan Wortman pitched an inning in relief, giving up three runs and striking out one. Mathieu Rocheleau pitched the fifth inning, striking out two. Jacob Carlson came on to pitch the seventh inning, allowing four runs.

At the plate, Muizelaar hit his second home run of the season. He finished the game with two hits and an RBI, increasing his on base percentage this season to .419, and he has an OPS of 1.008.

Also driving in runs for the Beavers were Ian Heck, who was also 2-for-4 at the plate, and Nick Teng, the only other batter to finish the game with more than one hit.

The Beavers will have a short turnaround before their next game. They are back at Crescent Point Place tonight as they host the Moose Jaw Miller Express at Tom Laing Park.
