The government of Alberta announced a $2 million investment in the Innisfail Health Centre on June 21.
In Budget 2024, the health centre will receive $2 million over the next three years for the renovation of the ambulance bay.
The project will ensure the health centre can accommodate large ambulances while enhancing privacy and increasing protection from seasonal elements during patient transfers.
"I am proud to have advocated on behalf of the community for the expansion of the Innisfail Health Centre's ambulance bay. This crucial project will ensure that Innisfail and the surrounding area receive timely and effective emergency care, enhancing patient safety and comfort during transfers, especially in adverse weather conditions,” said MLA Devin Dreeshen, Innisfail-Sylvan Lake.
The project's funding is through the Capital Maintenance and Renewal Program, managed by Alberta Infrastructure and Alberta Health.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) identifies projects that prioritize the safety and health of patients and staff while preventing the deterioration of infrastructure, a United Conservative Caucus press release said.
“We are continuing to build health care capacity by investing in new and existing facilities. The Capital Maintenance and Renewal Program invests in projects to ensure healthcare workers can continue to provide world-class health care to meet the needs of patients in every corner of the province,” said MLA Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health.
“Today's $2 million announcement is an example of an investment that continues to improve health care delivery in Innisfail. I commend Minister Dreeshen who has been a steadfast advocate for this renovation project, and Minister LaGrange for her support. This is a great day for the Innisfail Health Care Centre and for our community,” said Mayor Jean Barclay, Town of Innisfail.
