There are many events happening throughout Central Alberta to celebrate Canada Day.
From markets and entertainment, to fireworks shows, there is something for every member of the family to enjoy.
Here’s what’s happening:
Lacombe
Canada Day kicks off in Lacombe at 11:30 a.m., with the Lacombe Legion marching of the colours from the LMC to the legion, followed by a flag-raising ceremony, and BBQ.
The City of Lacombe is offering an outdoor market, food trucks, family-friendly games, and an E-Sports Tournament at the Junior High School Field from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Live music will be at Cranna Lake at 9 p.m., followed by a firework show around dusk.
If the event changes due to the weather, it will be moved indoors to the Gary Moe Auto Sportsplex in Arena 2.
Ellis Nature Centre
The Ellis Nature Centre is offering a nature scavenger hunt, lawn games, face painting, a team adventure race, and a nature documentary starting at 11 a.m.
Bentley
The Bentley Museum is celebrating Canada Day with an open house of the museum, featuring a bake sale, refreshments, cake, and children’s activity from 10 a.m., until 2:30 p.m.
Penhold
The Town of Penhold is starting Canada Day with a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Street Rec, followed by mini golf, bubble station, face painting, yard games, and balloon creations until 11:30 a.m.
Ponoka
The final day of the Ponoka Stampede will finish with midway rides, a tradeshow, a community market, and the pro rodeo finals.
Blackfalds
The Town of Blackfalds is celebrating Canada Day with face painting, music, and refreshments at the Tayles Water Spray Park from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Sylvan Lake
Sylvan Lake’s festivities kick off at 11 a.m. with Tipis and Tea, entertainment from Spandy Andy, face painting, and a show and shine.
At 2 p.m., the Sylvan Lake Rotary Club will host a dignitary address on the Pier, with the legion colour party flag raising.
The day will wrap up with a fireworks show at dusk.
Eckville
Eckville’s Canada Day celebrations include entertainment, face painting, complimentary hamburgers, hot dogs, fruit, and cake at the Eckville Community Centre.
A fireworks show will start at dusk at the north end of town at the AHS field.
Stettler
Canada Day celebrations start with tours of the Stettler Town and Country Museum at 11 a.m.
Cupcakes and entertainment will be at the West Stettler Park Gazebo at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks at dusk.
Red Deer
There will be live music at the Bower Ponds stage starting at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks at 11 p.m.
