A newly recruited family physician is now available to provide care to residents in Red Deer and area.

Dr. Jude Omeh is working out of The Branch Clinic in the city and will also be providing hospitalist services at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

“This is wonderful news for patients in both Red Deer and central Alberta,” said Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health and MLA for Red Deer-North. “Dr. Omeh is a welcome addition to Red Deer, and he is sure to be a great asset to our community.”

The clinic now has three physicians serving the community.

“Red Deer is the third largest city in the best province in Canada,” said Jason Stephan, MLA for Red Deer-South. “It is good to see medical professionals coming to Red Deer to serve families and individuals in our wonderful community.”

Omeh received his medical training in Nigeria and South Africa and is excited to begin practicing in Red Deer. In his free time, he enjoys watching football and relaxing with his family.

“Red Deer has friendly people with a lovely atmosphere,” he said.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit physicians across the Central Zone to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.

Individuals needing a family doctor can call 403-986-8600 to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment.
