Red Deer RCMP investigate aggravated assault on child

On June 20, the Red Deer RCMP were notified by Child and Family Services of a young child in the hospital with serious injuries.

After additional investigation and consultation, it was determined that the injuries were consistent with an assault.

On June 27, officers arrested the father of the child, a 27-year-old resident of Red Deer, who has been charged with:

• Aggravated Assault
• Failing to provide the necessities of life
• Criminal Negligence causing bodily harm

The accused was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released from custody on numerous conditions. 

Additional information about the accused and victim will not be released to protect the victim in this case.
