On June 29, at approximately 12:55 a.m., the Red Deer RCMP received a 911 call reporting a robbery in progress at a business located in the Anders Park East neighbourhood of Red Deer.
Responding officers quickly arrived at the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation.
It was determined that the suspect entered the business and produced a hammer, demanding money from the staff.
Red Deer RCMP General Duty officers, Police Dog Services (PDS), Downtown Patrol Unit (DPU), and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), located the suspect a short distance from the scene.
The suspect was arrested without incident.
Aurie Peigan, a 30-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offence:
- Robbery
Peigan was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released with conditions. His next court date is scheduled for July 29, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
