On June 28, the Innisfail RCMP were investigating a suspicious vehicle near the Dickson Dam.
Occupants of that vehicle were screaming at each other and causing a disturbance.
RCMP de-escalated the situation, however, one of the persons involved provided police with a false name.
That male suspect was arrested for obstruction, failing to comply with release conditions and outstanding traffic warrants out of Wetaskiwin.
Jamie Swinamer, 35, a resident of Wetaskiwin, was charged with:
- Obstruction;
- Fail to comply with a release order (x2).
RCMP held Swinamer for a Judicial Interim release hearing and on June 29, he was released by a Justice of the Peace.
A short time later on June 29, an SUV was stolen from a residence in Innisfail.
A family member of the owner saw the vehicle near Wetaskiwin.
Wetaskiwin RCMP intercepted the vehicle and arrested the driver who was the same suspect previously arrested by Innisfail RCMP.
Swinamer was additionally charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of property obtained by crime;
- Fail to comply with release order;
- Drive while unauthorized;
- Drive uninsured motor vehicle.
A second judicial Interim Release hearing was held for Swinamer where he was remanded into a custody.
Swinamer is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on July 9, and at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 24.
