On July 3, officers from the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT), with assistance from Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), Police Dog Services (PDS) and Wetaskiwin RCMP, successfully executed a search warrant at a residence in the South Hill area of Red Deer.

Officers recovered multiple items believed to be obtained through criminal activity, along with a significant quantity of cannabis products, firearms, ammunition, body armour, and a collection of valuable hockey card collectibles.

As a result, Red Deer RCMP have arrested two individuals:

Matthew Stewart, a 38-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm x2
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime x2
  • Possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized x2
  • Weapons possession contrary to order x2
  • Possess body armour without a valid permit
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000 x6
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 x3
  • Possess break-in instruments
  • Possession of Methamphetamine

Tia Cobbe, a 38-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm x3
  • Possession of firearm without licence/registrations x2
  • Possession of weapon obtain by crime x2
  • Possess body armour without a valid permit
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000 x5
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 x2
  • Possession of methamphetamine

Both were was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.

Stewart is scheduled to appear in court on July 30, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

Cobbe is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 12.
