The Weyburn Beavers were at home at Tom Laing Park for a pair of games on the weekend, as the Regina Red Sox came to town on Friday, and then the Saskatoon Berries paid a visit on Sunday.

In the game Friday, the Red Sox took an early lead and held on, keeping the Beavers off the basepaths as best they could, before blowing the game open with two runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth to pick up an 8-1 win.

Owen McConnell got tagged with the loss on the mound. He went seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on seven hits while striking out six batters. Ethan Webster pitched the eighth inning, striking out three, but giving up two runs on one hit. The game was finished off by Brett Paterson, who allowed three runs on four hits.

At the plate, Ryan Dauphinee hit his second home run of the season, while Quentin Smith added a double.

Sunday afternoon, errors would prove to be the undoing for the Beavers, as they were tagged with six of them in an 8-3 loss to the Berries.

Starting pitcher Angel Fragozo would go four innings, striking out seven, and allowing four runs, two earned, on two hits. Jared Eifler pitched three innings in relief, striking out three and giving up three runs, one earned. Joe Hart pitched the seventh inning, striking out two, while Jordan Bauer finished the game, striking out one while allowing one run on one hit.

At the plate, Niko Kekatos extended his hitting streak to eight games as he went 2-for-4, including a double. Throughout the streak, Kekatos has been batting .469, with a slugging percentage of .656, and an on-base percentage of .485. He has driven in five runs.

The Beavers will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Swift Current 57s at Tom Laing Park.
