A new day care centre in Quill Lake is one step closer to reality.
Recently the Little Gosling Childcare Centre received government funding through the Canada-Saskatchewan Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
President Taylor Gardiner said once they received the funding, they asked the community for support, which was answered quickly.
She noted Little Gosling Childcare Centre was fortunate to receive donations, including Accent Credit Union donating $100,000. They also received donations from the R.M. of Lakeside, the Village of Quill Lake and the local Grow Project also made key contributions to the project.
Adding a childcare centre would fill a major void in Quill Lake. Gardiner noted that parents in the community are forced to look elsewhere for childcare, noting that some parents drive for two hours to find childcare.
On Tuesday, August 6, the Little Gosling Childcare Centre will be holding a cookie sale at Accent Credit Union. Proceeds of the cookie sale will go towards their new home as well, it’s also a chance to meet the sponsors that are helping in the creation of their home.
The next step for the Little Gosling Childcare Centre is seeking tenders to help with the building of the childcare centre.
Little Gosling Childcare Centre received approval for 36 spaces in their facility.
