According to a post to social media Tuesday evening, RCMP say an officer conducting patrols observed a vehicle traveling at 162 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
RCMP say the incident happened July 17th, at approximately 9:15 PM, involving a speeding violation on Highway 205 in the R.M. of Morris.
Following the radar detection, the officer conducted a mandatory alcohol screening test on the driver, which returned a WARN reading. The driver, identified as a 29-year-old individual, explained to authorities that they had spent the entire day golfing.
As a consequence of the infractions, the driver received an $862 fine for speeding, along with a 72-hour license suspension. Additionally, their vehicle was towed and impounded for three days. A Serious Offence Notice was also issued for a license review with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI).
In the post, RCMP emphasized speeding and impaired driving are serious offenses that endanger lives on the road.
