Didsbury couple, Murray and Darlene Timmins, just won $5 million on the June 26 LOTTO 6/49 draw.

The couple has a routine when it comes to lottery purchases.

“We’ve been playing the same numbers since the 80s,” Darlene said. “They were the same numbers my late father played, as well.”

Murray explained that Darlene checks the tickets while she enjoys her coffee in the morning.

Darlene was shocked when she saw the special numbers had finally been drawn.

“I said, ‘I think we won! Look, look!’” she said.

“I was expecting a free play or something,” Murray said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

With their winnings, the couple plans to enjoy retirement together.

“My husband doesn’t need to work anymore,” Darlene said. “Now he can stay home and look after me!”

Even more special is the feeling of winning with Darlene’s late father’s number selection.

“I still can’t believe it,” she said. “I’ve been playing those numbers since 1985. When I saw the win, I just said, ‘Thanks, Dad.’”

The couple purchased the winning ticket at Canco in Didsbury.
