It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Dad, Richard MacDougall. Surrounded by his children, Dad passed peacefully on July 26, 2024 at the age of 93.

Dad was predeceased by the love of his life Enid in 2001; his parents Donald and Helen; sisters Peggy (Al), Helen (Wally), Betty (Al); brother Johnnie and great grandson Kai Richard.

Left to cherish his memory and his many “Richardisms” are his children Rick (Susan), Lisa (Grant), Shawna (Daryl) and Jennifer (Jeff): grandchildren Jay (Courtney), Breana (Javi), Jordan (Shane), Derek, Cameron (Elise): greatgrandchildren Layla, Sawyer, Kendrix and Swade. As well as nieces, nephews and great friends.

Dad was born on October 29, 1930 in Carman, Manitoba and was raised in the Wingham District. Dad and Mom were married September 10, 1955 and spent the first few years of married life on the MacDougall family farm before moving to Oakville. Dad lived in our family home until he was 91 enjoying the view of his garden and apple tree from his favorite seat in the porch.

A Celebration of Dads Life will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, 2 p.m. at Knox United Church in Oakville. Following the Celebration, please join us at the Seniors Centre for a light snack, stories and laughter.

Our family wish to thank Dad’s Lions Prairie Manor family for the laughter, care and compassion over the last year and a half as well as the doctors and health care staff at the Portage General Hospital.

Donations in Dad’s memory are gratefully accepted and may be made to Oakville Cemetery Box 88, Oakville, Manitoba R0H 0Y0. OR Oakville Arena c/o Oakville Community Club Box 344, Oakville Manitoba R0H 0Y0. Please make cheque payable to Oakville Community Club and specify the donation is for the skating rink. Flowers are respectfully declined.
