If you want to cool off in the water over the next couple of weeks in Humboldt, you will have to head outdoors.

The annual shutdown at the pool at the Humboldt Aquatic Centre will begin on Friday and will run until August 16.

Aquatics Manager Pam Adam explains the shutdown allows for much needed maintenance for the facility.

“The purpose of our annual maintenance shutdown is to ensure our facility and equipment are kept in good working order. We drain the pool and regrout and change any parts to our chlorination and circulation system that cannot be worked on be worked on while the pool is operating.”

Other repairs include the water slide receives some touchup.

Adam notes that with the pool being 27 years old, they want to keep the pool up and running for as long as possible.

The reason the beginning of August is chosen for the pool shutdown says Adam, is gives families an opportunity to support other pools in communities like Watson, Lanigan, Cudworth, Colonsay along with Regional Parks in the area including Lucien Lake and Leroy Leisureland. Another option is the Water Ridge Spray Park.

Along with the pool shutdown, the Leisure Services Fitness Room will be closed during the August Long Weekend.
