Construction work on the 55 Street underpass, south of the CPR Pedestrian Bridge is starting today (Aug. 14).

To accommodate future construction access and pathway alignments, the underpass is being removed.

Demolition will begin this week and is expected to be completed by Sept. 6, weather dependent.

Work will include removing the existing underway bridge structure, installation of storm infrastructure, site grading, and temporary pathway construction.

The CPR Pedestrian bridge will remain open, however, access to the bridge from 55 Street will be closed, with pedestrians detoured to Gaetz Avenue.

Motorists could experience delays on 55 Street between Gaetz Avenue and 54 Avenue.
