Like a number of other communities in the area, Morris is also looking for a new curbside compost pick-up solution after its current provider, Enviro Clean, made the decision to cease operations citing challenges in the aftermarket compost and difficulties in achieving cost recovery as the primary reasons for their closure.

There will be two additional curbside compost pick-ups in Morris, August 14th and August 28th. After that, curbside pick-up will not be available in Morris until a new solution is found.

Mayor Scott Crick understands the coming transition may be a temporary inconvenience, but the Town is exploring alternative options to ensure the continuation of a composting program.

"I know we're trying to find a cost-effective composter, we've not had a lot of luck yet, and I know a number of other R.M.s are in the same situation," noted Crick. "We're looking at what alternatives may exist for composting. We know the R.M. of Montcalm actually had a very successful launch of some home composting. We're still not sure if that will work at our scale, but yes, we're trying to find ways to keep all those organics out of the landfill."

The Town's compost site at the Public Works Yard remains open for drop-off of yard waste only including branches and grass clippings.
