On Aug. 15, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers from the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team observed a stolen truck driving within the Bower area of Red Deer.   

With assistance from Police Dog Services and the Emergency Response Team, officers arrested the individual.   

A loaded shotgun and other weapons were later located within the stolen vehicle.  

Through a police investigation, Chad Daniel Wickett, a 32-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:  

  • Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm  

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose  

  • Unauthorized Possession in Motor Vehicle  

  • Careless Use or Storage of a Firearm  

  • Possession of a Weapon Contrary to an Order x4  

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Over $5,000  

  • Failure to comply with order x 6  

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol or a drug  

  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Demand  

  • 26 Additional Warrants  

 Wickett was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.   

He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 23, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
