We wrap up our introduction to new administrators in the Horizon School Division with a trio of long-time professionals serving communities near Humboldt.

LeRoy School welcomes newly appointed principal Sarah Dale. Sarah obtained her Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan in 2010. In May of the same year, she was employed by the Englefeld School, where she taught grade 7/8 until the end of the year. She was employed with them again in the fall to teach K/1/2.

In January of 2011, she accepted a position with Horizon School Division at LeRoy School and has been teaching there for the past 13 years.

Throughout her career, she has taught all grades from K-8. For the past 9 years, she has been the grade 3/4 teacher, which has proved to be her absolute favorite.

Since beginning her teaching career, Sarah has coached a variety of sports such as golf, volleyball, badminton and track. She has assumed many leadership roles at LeRoy School, including coordinator positions, SCC and she has been the acting administrator for the past 6 years.

Sarah and her husband Drew, reside in LeRoy with their two children, Brielle and Raxtyn. Brielle enjoys hockey, singing lessons, dance and golf, while Raxtyn plays hockey, baseball and golf.

When she is not running and watching her children's sports, she loves spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys outdoor activities such as golfing, camping, quadding, and fishing.

Joel Taphorn and family

Joel Taphorn has accepted the appointment of Principal at Lake Lenore School. Joel obtained his Bachelor of Elementary Education from the University of Regina in 1999.

In 2001 he was employed by Englefeld School, where he taught Grade 5/6 homeroom. In 2007, an opening at Muenster School became available for Grade 7, and Joel jumped at the chance to teach in the town in which he resides, but more importantly, to be able to work where his children were starting their own educational journey.

Throughout his career, he has been involved in a variety of areas within the education sector. He helped write the HTA constitution after school amalgamations, served two terms as a councillor for the HTA and was an SSL for Muenster School.

A deep passion for Joel is extracurricular activities, where he takes great pride in the coaching and officiating he has done. Sportsmanship, work ethic, teamwork, and integrity are fundamentals that he instills in his students. He looks forward to every game and practice to see the growth in his athletes.

Joel and his wife Wanda are currently enjoying the “empty nest” part of life as their two adult children both reside in Saskatoon.

He looks forward to joining the Lake Lenore staff and the Director’s Leadership Team of Horizon School Division.
