The Lacombe Food Bank needs your assistance to help restock their shelves.

The Rotary Club of Lacombe is hosting a Food Bank Drive today from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Sept 10) at No Frills, Co-op, and Sobeys.

Rotary Club President Gary Godberson says their trucks will be setup by the front doors.

"There's always people in need. It's something that we have enough members that we can pull it off. So it's good for our members to help out and it's obviously good for the community to take some pressure off families right now."

Godberson mentions the food bank is really in need of back-to-school items like granola bars and meat sticks and bags of produce.

The Rotary Club of Lacombe consists of around 15 members. Godberson says their numbers dropped after the pandemic but have since rebounded.

Lacombe Community Services and Food Bank Director Brenda Stoodley stated that she's worked there for three falls and the shelves are always bare around this time of year.

"The need is always there for sure," she said. "There's a lot of individuals coming here needing help and the food goes quickly."

If you're not able to donate food, cash donations will also be accepted.
