Aspire's Evening of Decadent Dessert returns October 3rd

A sweet night for a great cause is coming up on October 3rd.

Aspire's Evening of Decadent Dessert will be in The Parkland Pavillion at the Westerner Grounds in Red Deer.

Riel Suntjens, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for Aspire Special Need Resource Centre talks about the event.

"It's a night for our our community to get together and support children with diverse needs in Central Alberta. We're actually celebrating our 40th anniversary next year, and so we are in our 39th year as a as a nonprofit in Red Deer."

Suntjens says the night will be a fun, but also heartwarming evening for everyone who attends.

"The event itself starts with a champagne reception to begin with, where we welcome everyone. After that, there's a buffet dinner and then our speakers and presentations where we have some very thoughtful and sensitive speeches from some of our past parents and students. So there's usually not a dry eye in the room when that happens."

After the dinner, one of the biggest highlights of the night is the live auction. Suntjens explains what kinds of items you can bid on.

"We have 13 packages this year ranging from trips and experiences such as the Rebels box suite, The Sylvan Lake Gulls box suite and a variety of Central Alberta activities and events to go to. It's probably the most exciting part of the night because you what auctions are like and they get everyone's blood pumping."

All of the auction items come with a special dessert attached.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. at the Parkland Pavilion at the Westerner Grounds in Red Deer. Tickets are available for $125 per person or $900 for a table of eight. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for a portion of the ticket price.
