The Humboldt Broncos have a lot of work left in front of them this preseason, even with only two games remaining.
Last weekend, the Broncos got off to a solid start picking up a pair of convincing wins over the Kindersley Klippers.
Head Coach Brayden Klimosko noted the Klippers had a younger lineup than the Broncos but was still pleased with his team’s effort in both games.
The Broncos will meet the Melfort Mustangs for the final two exhibition games, and Klimosko says there are things he would like to see the team work on, including the work inside the team’s defensive end, special teams and structural work.
When the clock hits zero on Saturday in Melfort, the work will only start for Klimosko and the rest of the team’s coaching staff. He notes there are 28 players on the roster beginning this weekend, and they will have to be down to 25 on Sunday.
Chemistry is one thing the Broncos will be trying to build throughout the season, but the team has gotten off to a good start. Klimosko said the bond inside of the team’s dressing room is already beginning to show.
“I think we have a very tight knit group; we had a couple of outings, the golf course is one, they’ve gotten together a few times as a group.”
Klimosko added, “it makes my job a little easier, knowing we don’t have to do many team builders, you could say the guys are already gelling in other ways, so we’re not forcing anything on my hand.”
The Broncos will host the Mustangs at the Elgar Petersen Arena on Friday night, with a 7:00 faceoff.
On Saturday, the two teams will battle in Melfort, at the Northern Lights Palace. The game can be heard on Bolt FM with the pre-game show beginning at 7:15.
The Broncos begin the regular season on Saturday, September 21 when they host the Notre Dame Hounds.
